Momentum - Somatic Programme

Growing agency and understanding - inside and between us

Momentum 2027 will have a different format from the previous year to make it more accessible to those that travel from further away, and more sustainable for members of the team. It will be 3 modules of 5 days plus online meetings.

THE INVITATION

Come join us for this exploration into movement and systemic understanding - an opportunity to land deep inside your dancing being and somatic intelligence, while gaining a greater understanding of how your system speaks to itself and the world around you.

A 6-month dive into resource and support for our individual agency, while expanding our capacity in how we relate and respond to others, the environment and world we are part of. Working with Movement Medicine® combined with Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Processwork (Arnold & Amy Mindell). This somatic, systemic and creative weave supports kindness and understanding alongside expression and integration.

Constantly returning to movement and dance as the ground of holding and connection for our time together. We will create enough safety to make space for fiery edges as well as tender softening. Rooted deep inside somatic practices and the resource of the body in motion, we lean into IFS and Processwork to explore both resource and challenge. Finding a relational place of greater choice and health; allowing the tides and rhythms of our own nature while meeting the tides and rhythms of life around us.

We will include mark making and other creative expression to gather information, integrate processes and enagage the fullness of who we are. This is not about making good images, it is a way of reclaiming the resource of visual creative expression; allowing our hands to dance with colour, shape and form in all its light and dark.

THE PRACTICES

Movement Medicine
Weaves the liberation of free dance with the awareness of mindfulness, the depth of therapeutic understanding and the intelligence of shamanic practice. It is a trauma informed modality that supports us to explore our humanity with compassion, creativity and curiosity. This is somatic practice for the times we live in, rooted in our connection to the natural world and the cycles of life. Dance as a practice is highly efficient for processing our experiences, traversing our emotions, and getting to know ourselves better.

Internal Family Systems
With moving, embodied IFS we dance to welcome and understand our inner world better. Dancing with the protective and exiled places in us, held by the presence of self and the spirit of the dance. So parts of us that are longing to be known are met with inclusion and appreciation supported in their activation and seen in their goodness. Thereby enabled to move from compulsion to choice, from overwhelm and overstretch to agency and capacity.

Processwork
Using Processwork practices to learn from both safety and disturbance. Also exploring the collective roles we inhabit, encouraging them into understanding and relationship. In group explorations all of us becoming more ‘for’ each role and what it brings attention to, so we can collectively move from activation and othering to agency and understanding.

These combined practices, supported by creative integration, help us to grow personal and collective resilience in these demanding times.

THE BENEFITS

Whether you are an experienced dancer, have worked with IFS or are simply drawn to this programme the benefits can be many. Those harvested by past participants include:

  • Increased trust in yourself, all parts of you are welcomed, whether you are moving, resting, speaking, creating or simply being - the power of kindness and inclusion.
  • Support for your nervous system, allowing movement and systemic understanding to increase regulation, resilience and aliveness.
  • Growing your personal agency, bringing understanding and movement to over burdened places in you so they can act from choice rather than compulsion.
  • Enriching your relationships and community capacity, giving attention and care to the roles we have, so we can make choices and stand up for what we believe in.
  • Knowing that you have a place, through trustworthy connection in a group setting where you can show up as you are, be genuinely seen and supported.
  • Reclaiming your wholeness, skilled, compassionate facilitation and mentoring as you navigate deeper terrains and realign with your goodness and dignity.
  • Resource in demanding work and life roles, gathering support, sustenance and inspiration for working with, and caring for others in these stretching times.

This pioneering 6-month programme offers ground and growth on a personal level. Although it is not a training it will also be useful for professional development; cultivating your own somatic, systemic practice to support and influence your work with others.
